CSE Summer Study is a 5+ week experiential in-person and online program for rising high school juniors and seniors to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and become innovators and change-makers. Students will develop the entrepreneurial competencies and confidence to address real-world problems, seize opportunities, have an impact, and create change that leads to your desired future. While you work with peers from around the globe, you will develop practical entrepreneurial skills based on the Decalogue Methodology that allows you to enroll others in your vision, confidently master difficult topics, and embrace other points.

INTRODUCTION TO THE ENTREPRENEURIAL EXPERIENCE SUMMER STUDY 2024
CSE Summer Study is an intensive pre-college onsite and online summer program, where you will cultivate the entrepreneurial mindset needed to create opportunities where others see obstacles. Immersed in our unique Decalogue Management® methodology for turning ideas into action, you will gain practical skills and an unparalleled perspective on real-world business challenges to create value for yourself and for society.
Introduction to the Entrepreneurial Experience allows you to develop your problem-solving and teamwork skills that you can apply in limitless settings, including business, nonprofit, government, and your career. Using an entrepreneurial lens, you will explore social, economic, and environmental problems framed by the U.N. Global Goals. You will gain exposure to key concepts in entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing, finance, business communication, and other disciplines that support venture creation.

Mentors: At CSE, we value the role that strong mentors serve in the lives of our students during their college years and beyond. The same is true for Summer Study. Each student will have the opportunity to work closely with Summer Study Academic Mentors. Mentors are CSE faculty and former students who are demonstrated leaders on campus and beyond. Each will help guide you throughout the program.
Entrepreneurial Ecosystem: The world needs entrepreneurs now, more than ever before. As jobs and entire industries disrupt and evolve, people at all stages of their lives and careers must think and act like entrepreneurs in order to thrive. Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to:
Hear from an impressive group of innovative leaders in CSE’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, who will share their own start-up journeys and expertise
Engage with faculty, alumni, and students through engaging panels and presentations
A Road Map for Success
Develop an action-oriented six-month plan that will result in your article submission to a scholarly journal.
Course Schedule
There will be physical classes, online and asynchronous academic coursework each day during the 5+ week course. Physical sessions will last approximately 3 hours. In addition, you should prepare to spend up to 5 additional hours each day (25 hours per week) working on out-of-class assignments, both individually and with your team. The added flexibility provided by digital and asynchronous learning platforms—combined with more traditional, synchronous live classes with experienced professors—allows you to learn from peers around the globe. Class will take place Monday-Friday, 8–11 a.m. East African Time.
What You Need to Know
Create an account and follow the General Application instructions. The application includes three essay questions to help us get to know you better.
A copy of your high school/secondary school transcript is required for your application to be considered complete.
Transcripts must be submitted by a school official. In the application, you will provide contact details for a school official. The official will receive a link to upload your transcript.
Tuition
The program cost for Summer Study 2024 is USD $1295 (+ $95 application fee). The program is delivered physical and online so there are no on-campus activities.
Financial Aid
Limited need-based financial aid for full and partial scholarships is available. The financial aid application is included as a component of the Summer Study application.
The financial aid application requires submission of financial information including family income, assets and expenses, so it must be completed in consultation with your parent(s)/guardian(s). Student applying for financial aid will receive an application fee waiver.
There must be significant financial need before a student will be considered for financial aid, so only students with significant need should apply. Technology stipends may also be available.
Financial aid decisions are sent with application decisions.
A 10% discount is available for CIRMI members. Please email the CSE for more information about discounts.
Applicants must submit a nonrefundable $95 application fee when they submit their application. Students who are eligible and who wish to be considered for limited need-based financial aid will have their application fee waived.

Below are some frequently asked questions from students, parents, and educators.
Is the program in-person?
The program has options for both fully in-person and for virtual and delivered online. There is housing available for those interested in in-person option where as online students do not need accommodation and there is no on-campus component.
Who can apply to CSE Summer Study?
The program is designed for rising high school juniors and seniors. Each applicant must be age 16 or older by the start of the program. Unfortunately, we are unable to make exceptions to the eligibility requirements.
What is the English proficiency requirement for international students?
Generally, international students are required to submit one of the following on the “Test Scores” page of our application:
- The online Duolingo English Test
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- Cambridge Assessment English Qualifications
The minimum score is 90 for TOEFL or 110 for Duolingo (or the equivalent on a different test)
You are NOT required to submit an English test score if any of these apply to you:
- You are a Kenyan domestic student
- You are an international student, but English is your native language
- You are an international student, but English is the language of instruction at your school
Can I apply without official transcripts?
In the application, you will provide contact information for a school official who will be notified and asked to upload your official transcript. Your application is not complete until your transcript has been received. Transcripts must be received by the application deadline.
What will my day look like?
Our online format provides a rich opportunity to engage with peers from around the world. We provide the same quality instruction that you would receive in the classroom, with greater flexibility for you to interact with your team and instructors. Through live class sessions, asynchronous learning, and group meetings with professors, you will work on projects with your peers, completing both team and individual homework assignments. Assignments are spaced throughout the month, and regular check-in meetings with professors and near-peer mentors will help keep you on track. The program is designed to serve our global cohort of students.
If I don’t get accepted into CSE Summer Study, can I still apply to CSE’s certificate or diploma program?
Yes, absolutely. Please don’t let this deter you from applying to the CSE certificate & diploma Program.
Can I get a refund on my Application fee?
The application fee and deposit are nonrefundable.
